    Between Trains

Like so often there were problems on my evening commute that delayed the train, meaning, I didn’t catch my second train.

Instead of standing around on the packed platform for a full hour I found myself a bench with a nice view and enjoyed a sketchbook session

  • Geeky encounter

This morning on my way to work I saw a group of young teens in Star Trek Uniforms. From what I overheard they were about to visit the tech museum.

  • full circle

    full circle

Back to posting food! Feels like a full circle moment of a happier life I lost many years ago. And you know what? I don’t care. Because you know what posting real life moments is, essentially? It’s a visual gratitude journal – and we got robbed of that by being told “nobody wants to see your lunch”, got told, our feeds need to be curated and filtered.

Feeling tired, broken and burned out for months also meant I haven’t eaten very healthy. Now I’m back to putting minimum effort into making food even if it’s just spaghetti from two days ago, Gouda and fresh tomatoes.

Long story short: I’m grateful for this positive change and this comfort food after a long, boring, rainy work day.

I went all the way down on my tumblr

Here’s some old art from 2017 or so. I had a short but intense coloured pencil phase ๐Ÿ™‚

And maybe I should start making gifs of rain and steaming mugs agin… so Tumblr!

    Artsy Landscape & Mini Me

I own the Remarkable 2 for a few years now and still struggling to draw clean drawings on it, maybe it’s me, maybe it’s the technology, I don’t know – but it’s fun.
And while I’m already overthinking if this is “good enough” to even post online I have to remind myself that I always wish I had been consistent with one blog over the years, be able to look back at my creative journey on one platform.

  • A new beginning. Again.

    A new beginning. Again.

While the world is burning online and offline, there’s a rising Indie Web movement of decentralised websites and I’m so here for it.
For years I thought how cool it would be if people used their own space again. Without censorship or data collection without our consent – for art and small moments!

I don’t know where the past years went

I fell into a two-year creative block, followed by pushing out of it so hard that mental and physical burnout hit me in july. I kept making art while barely functioning otherwise and now… now I finally feel like a lot of things in my life fall into place again. A good point to rethink my online activities, my relationship with art and where the internet is actually still enjoyable.

    Lackadaisy bedtime reread

Through Youtube I discovered that there is a crowdfunded indie animation adapation of this amazing old webcomic set in 1920s America during prohibition but the characters are all cats.
Here is the webcomic if you don’t know it. Sadly there’s only the pilot so far but they are working on a first season. In the meantime I’m rereading!

    Some new creative endeavors:

Talking about animation and comics, I started learning animation basics with a run cycle in july for this collab and enjoy drawing and thinking about my Original Characters a lot, trying to finally get my story ideas going. Might post some comic pages one day. We’ll see ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s to finding balance, making art, finding smaller, more indipendent spaces and embracing the little things in life again that still exist but often get lost in the mess!

    Subway

After the first in this “modern AU” series of Arik, my own character I started imagining him in more modern day scenarios, always an outsider, a quiet observer but still a part of society like everybody else.
